A significant characteristic of modular seating making it so appealing for modern interiors is the freedom of creativity and flexibility it offers the user, a quality seen in other modular ranges such as the Social modular range and the Modular Sofa collections also available at Spaceist. The latest modular sofa range available through Spaceist is the 102 modular sofa, designed by Massimo Mariani. He has designed a simple sofa system made up of three basic components – a backrest, seat and single armrest. Our product of the week, the 102 modular sofa offers users the freedom of creativity and a flexible choice to interpret the 102 sofa for optimal comfort.
Mariani takes the classic sofa and breaks it down into its most basic components, inspired by the simplicity of building blocks. Through the three basic elements; a seat, a backrest and a single armrest, we see the development of an entire range of possible configurations that transform a classic sofa into a customised seating unit.
Made in the UK, the cube-like shape of the 102 modular sofas is a result of a combination of durable materials that provide adequate support whilst also enhancing the clean lines and modern shape of each component. The base frame is constructed from a combination of solid steel and a wood frame that is then finished with contract grade foam and a choice of upholstery including fabric, leather or faux leather. The upholstered platforms appear to float on the light base frame that is made from powder coated steel.
Taking the three basic components, Mariani has come up with ten modules that offer an array of countless configurations and forms, made up of armchairs, easy chairs, sofas, daybeds, benches and tables. Choose as many or as little of these modules to create seating for reception areas, waiting rooms, libraries, breakout spaces and much more. Adding a playful and interesting aesthetic to the 102 modular sofa is the wide range of finishes and touches that can optimise the final sofa design.
Colours and fabrics can be varied between blocks, with three upholstery options available; fabric, leather and faux leather, with each offering over 60 colour options. Create a uniform look or mix and match modules for a playful finish. The added advantage to the 102 sofa is that within one block, two upholstery colours can be selected to add a vibrant look. If your client is seeking specific brand matching, this service is also available. As well as the seats, two base colour options are available; black or white. The matching table units come in a choice of table top finishes; white laminate, walnut or oak veneer with solid edging, and standard base colours in black or white.
