As part of our #spaceistoutdoors theme, we take a look at three unconventional play parks that each use extraordinary materials.
Playing is an essential part of development. It improves co-ordination, strength, interpersonal skills and problem solving among many other things. Children can play anywhere and make it fun but nothing is more exciting than a well designed play area that is a bit different from the norm.
The first of the parks is at Whoa Studios in New Zealand. It is home to a crotchet play net designed by Japanese artist Toshiko Horiuchi. Hand crafted over two years using 70 kilometres of coloured nylon and stretched from a 12 meter high shaded structure, children can weave their way through the colourful net. It is visually stunning and offers the children a safe but exciting way to play.
The second park we wanted to share is at The St.Louis City Museum. The museum houses ‘MonstroCity’, a park which has been created entirely from reclaimed materials from within the city borders! Children can climb through giant slinkies that can lead them from an old fire engine, right up to an aeroplane. It truly is an epic example of an urban play area!
A play area that embraces the natural environment is Tumbling Bay Playground in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It offers children the opportunity to clamber amongst rock pools and sand pits, climb tall treehouses, and traverse rope bridges. It has been built on the natural landscape of the Olympic Park and encourages its users to experiment with their surroundings.
Whilst we don’t supply play equipment, let us help you create your perfect Spring outdoor space with our pick of outdoor furniture that encompasses the fun and freedom of these parks.
