Here at Spaceist we present a dedicated approach towards each project, working closely with the client to ensure every aspect of the project is delivered beyond expectation. Working together with Surrey County Council, we designed and supplied a furniture package drawn from the feedback of the local young people of Caterham. The new youth facility in Caterham will function as a vital element for young people to develop new skills and support.
Caterham Youth Centre will be a place where along side recreational facilities and a media lounge, it will be a place for skills training, advice and counselling. The client, Surry County Council specified a range of areas that were to be included in the furniture package including; a café style space with booth seating, a study space with connectivity ports, a games and media lounge, a conference project room, a recreation space with relaxing seating, and an admin and counselling room. From the outset, we were able to connect to the young people in the area who would be the primary users of the youth centre. This allowed us to gain advice, tips and an insight into the style of furniture to specify that they would prefer to see. This feedback collectively made the final choice of items that were selected form a striking and bold new interior with a simple colour palette giving the new youth centre a sophisticated look for both the youth and staff.
For the seating in the recreational space we supplied by the use of modular seats from the Modular cubes range offering unmatched variety and choice. The modular cubes come in a choice of vinyl, strong wool fabric or leather. As a high-impact space, it was important to ensure the choice of material was easy to clean and robust. The Boltaflex vinyl finish was selected for the modular cubes in the same grey tones as a resilient again daily ware and tear. The modular cubes are ideal for economical budgets without compromising on quality. They offer flexibility and are unmatchable for their versatile design.
To furnish the seating in the café style space, we supplied a Modular Sofa in a grey tone. The versatile nature of the modular sofa allows for variable use of the separate components when they need to be rearranged. The vinyl finished selected gives the seating durable and easy to maintain finishing, whilst the modish style conforms with the contemporary design of the interior layout. A fun element was included with a supply of chairs from the Flow range. The circular base swivels to allow added privacy and the high back provides additional support and comfort. The chair comes upholstered in either faux leather vinyl in a choice of colours or in strong wool. To finish off the area, Trumpet round tables were selected in a white laminate top finish with chrome trumpet style base. The Trumpet table range offers a wide range of sizes and colour options making it ideal for a range of spaces. Here, the chrome legs complement the chrome legs selected for the conference area table.
To address the requirements of the conference space we supplied the Colour study tables. The large Colour table comes with a durable Formica laminate top finish in a large variety of colours. With layered ply detailing on the edges and 80mm tubular steel base legs finished in chrome, the look complements the furniture used in the study spaces and the selection of practical yet modern furniture. To pair with the Colour table, the Catifa swivel chairs were most suited to this project. As well as students, staff will also be using the spaces, so it required sophisticated yet practical seating. The Catifa chair is constructed from a polypropylene seat and swivel base legs. With a wide colour range available, a bold black shade seemed ideal to match the sophisticated interior palette. The Colour table and Catifa chair were also selected to align the wall with power and internet access ports.
The final look compliments the use of each space, with a range of stylish furniture items that are both easy to maintain and will last through years of wear and tear. Working with both the client and end users, we were able to meet the necessary requirements of the project with a more then satisfactory end result.
