Based in Wimbledon, Independent school Kings College approached Spaceist for a consultation to supply a furniture package for a new sixth form centre on site. Used by sixth form students and staff, the space required robust, stylish and sophisticated items. Spaceist supplied a furniture package for the cafe, lounge area, study spaces and meeting rooms.

It was ideal to keep the colours and styles suitable to the schools modern standards whilst providing both quality and hard-wearing solutions. Working with the client and by using our expertise in this sector, we were able to put together a furniture package to match these requirements with confidence.

 

Lounge area

To furnish the lounge space with comfortable and durable seating within the Sixth form, the 46 office sofa system was selected. The 46 sofa system is a high impact seating option ideal for busy environments; it is manufactured with hard wood frame covered with high quality foam and upholstered in a dark cappuccino vinyl material.

Further seating is provided by the use of modular seats rom our Modular cubes range offering unmatched variety and choice. Keeping to a blue palette, we selected three tones of blue from the selection of over 60 different colours. The modular cubes come in a choice of vinyl, strong wool fabric or leather. As a high-impact space, it was important to ensure the choice of material was easy to clean and robust. The Boltaflex vinyl finish was selected for the modular cubes as a resilient again daily ware and tear. The modular cubes are ideal for economic budgets without compromising on quality and fit in with the contemporary seating throughout and they can be easily moved around adding flexibility into the space.

To accommodate comfortable cafe seating, the First plastic cafe chairs were selected. Made from solid polypropylene and finished with a fibreglass coating, these hard wearing chairs are both robust and stylish. A selection of seat colours are available from the bold black used here, to lime green or purple. Designed by Stefano Giovannoni, the chair was supplied to match with the Trumpet Square cafe tables. Constricted with aluminium base and a solid laminate top, we supplied the Trumpet tables in the square shape with a white top and chrome base. Adding a contrasting appeal when matched with the chairs, the Trumpet table is available in a wide selection of sizes and comes in a range of colour combinations. The chair and table combination is well coordinated with the lounge seating.

 

Study spaces & Meeting rooms

The JB-45 canteen and study bench was supplied for the study areas for is outstanding qualities and variable options available. Manufactured from a hard wearing 3mm compact Formica laminate finished with a slid ash edge, the tables and bench combination presents durability along with contemporary appeal. The very robust and long lasting bench is seen here in a cool Monaco green shade to match the blue accents of colour used around the Sixth form space.

To address the spaces within the meeting rooms, we supplied the Colour study table in a matching colour tone to the study benches. The large Colour table comes with a durable Formica laminate top finish in a large variety of colours. With layered ply detailing on the edges and 80mm tubular steel base legs finished in chrome, the look complements the furniture used in the study spaces and the selection of practical yet modern furniture. The meeting room chairs are from the classic Catifa range. The Catifa 46 coloured plastic chairs were the option most suited to this project. As well as students, staff will also be using the spaces, so require sophisticated yet practical solutions. The Catifa 46 chair is constructed from a polypropylene seat and stackable chrome base legs. The contemporary beige colour also matches the colour palette used throughout the project.
