Today marks the opening of the 16th edition of the biggest design show in Central Europe. Designblok is an expansive design show presenting interiors, fashion, lighting and product design in four venues around Prague. The show attracts designers from the the Czech Republic as well as the international design platform. This year the theme of the show is based on Childhood.

As well as renown designers, the show sees a host of new designers from universities and design schools. With international names like Tom Dixon, Artimede and Ineke Hans making an appearance, the show definitely presents something to shout about. We also see the merging of two prominent Czech design studios coming together – Qubus and Křehký. Both present the wealth of Czech manufacturing in glass and porcelain to bring us a range of unique accessories and lighting.

Some of the highlights in the interiors section include a range of furniture presented by Amsterdam based design team Tjep. The studio present Bronze Age; a fully hand-made range presenting age-old manufacturing skills that are quite possibly under-utilised today.

Designblok is on from the 7th till 12th October.
